IT AMC vs Managed IT Services: Which Does Your Business Need?

Both give your business ongoing IT support — but they cover very different things. Here's how to choose.

Short answer: choose an IT AMC if your main need is keeping 5–50 computers healthy at a fixed annual cost. Choose Managed IT if you want an external partner to run your whole IT environment — users, network, cloud, vendors and planning — like an in-house IT department would.

What is an IT AMC?

An IT Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) is a fixed-price yearly agreement that covers support and preventive maintenance for a defined list of business computers — usually laptops, desktops and workstations.

A typical computer AMC includes:

  • Remote support for everyday issues during business hours
  • Scheduled onsite visits for preventive maintenance and health checks
  • Windows troubleshooting, updates and patch management
  • Outlook and Microsoft 365 end-user assistance
  • Printer connectivity and basic LAN / Wi-Fi troubleshooting
  • Hardware vendor and warranty coordination

What an AMC usually does not include: servers, firewalls, managed switches, NAS, email migration, structured cabling and hardware replacement costs. These are scoped and quoted separately.

What are Managed IT Services?

With Managed IT Services, an external provider becomes your IT function. Instead of only maintaining devices, they take responsibility for how your whole technology environment runs day to day.

  • Everything in a device AMC, plus…
  • Microsoft 365 administration, licensing and user management
  • Employee onboarding and offboarding — devices, accounts, access
  • Network and infrastructure coordination
  • Vendor management — ISPs, hardware suppliers, software licences
  • Backup monitoring, endpoint security and patch control
  • IT planning and documentation

What does each cost in Pune?

At DAVZONTech, IT AMC plans start from ₹30,000 per year for up to 10 devices, ₹60,000 for up to 25 devices and ₹1,08,000 for up to 50 devices, with 4, 12 or 24 onsite visits a year respectively. Prices exclude GST.

Managed IT is priced through a proposal because scope varies more: number of users and locations, cloud and infrastructure, and how much coordination you need. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.

How to choose: four quick questions

  • Who handles new joiners today? If nobody owns accounts, email and access, Managed IT fills that gap.
  • How many IT vendors do you deal with? If you're juggling an ISP, hardware suppliers and software licences yourself, Managed IT takes that off your plate.
  • Is your main pain slow or broken computers? An AMC is usually the right, lower-cost starting point.
  • Do you need IT planning? If you're growing, opening offices or moving to the cloud, Managed IT gives you a partner who plans ahead.

Many businesses start with an AMC and move to Managed IT as they grow — the same team, a wider scope.

When one-time support is enough

If you have 1–4 devices or only occasional problems, you may not need a contract at all. One-time support starts from ₹699 per incident remotely and ₹1,499 onsite, with no annual commitment.
